Picture Parlour is a band formed in 2021 in Manchester, UK.
Background[]
At first the band was a duo between Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi, who met while studying philosophy and music respectively in Manchester, before meeting Michael Nash and Sian Lynch through a Facebook community page for fellow young musicians.[1]
They started out by playing at Brixton’s The Windmill, where Lou Smith got a recording of their set. The band gathered recognition after Courtney Love reposted Smiths video to her instagram story, Parlour and Risi was at a pub as their phones were blowing up with Courtney Love fans flocking to follow the band.[2]
Sound[]
The bands sound is inspired by Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Fleetwood Mac & TRex. When making a song they want it to sound as big as possible, and imagines whether they could play it on a big festival stage.[3]
