Background[]

After the whirlwind year of 2023, when The Last Dinner Party made their presence known to the world by releasing their hit debut single, "Nothing Matters", they released their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy in 2024 which was received well by critics and fans. Their success came at a surprise to the band but it didn’t slow them down, and they had already begun working on their sophomore album.[1]

Before the release of their previous songs the band started off by performing them live, which they’ve said they felt informed how they became,[2] so when asked if they would do the same for album two in an interview for Absolute Radio, Abigail Morris and Georgia Davies responded that they’d try if they have the time.[3]

They started to write for the album on April 19, 2023, after the release of their debut single when they wrote "Big Dog".[4][5]

Album Aesthetic[]

In an interview with NME in August 2024, the band revealed that they are moving away from the aesthetic of their debut album.[6]

We know we want to shift away aesthetically from album one, in terms of how we dress and the whole world. It’s still connected, but moving on to something a bit different
